Jesus – God’s Greatest Miracle

During this Christmas season, it can be easy to focus on the things around us, or not. Thoughts of family may spark feelings of joy or feelings of dissension. Both happiness and hurt are soaring at an all time high. It can become easy to focus on what we have or what we want, materialistically. We start to judge where we are and others are based on those around us and ourselves, comparing and jumping to conclusions. The Christmas season is indoctrinated with greed and selfishness, despite the true meaning of the Holiday. The miracle of Jesus’ birth is amazing, and shouldn’t be downplayed; however, while Jesus’s birth is what the celebration of Christmas is about, today I want to focus on the defeat of death and the unification of all through Christ.

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

(John 3:17 NIV)

God is alpha and omega. With His mighty, incomparable, power He can accomplish anything. It is because of this that there should be no surprise regarding the prophecies and miracles He is able to facilitate and perform; however, since the very beginning when the serpent deceived Adam and Eve, God has vowed to destroy it. When God raised Jesus from the dead, He showed that not only does He have the power to raise others from the dead, but He truly is LORD above all, including the grave. It is because of the eternal and all-encompassing sacrifice made in the name of Jesus that we can live with such freedom knowing our price has already been paid before God.

“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

(1 John 2:2 NIV)

But this sacrifice gives much more than the freedom of knowing we are right-standing before God. This sacrifice was provided so ALL people can be unified in Christ. When we love unconditionally, with no expectations except showing another human being the same love God has shown us, we not only live as Jesus did, but also give space for God in both their life and our personal life. During a season of communal celebration, so many are without families, food, homes, etc. we, as Christians have a huge opportunity to shower those around us with the love of Christ. Our decision to deny ourselves and be a part of God’s mission means to align with God’s desires, and God desires to shower His creation with love.

Let’s focus this holiday on how we can serve others, and we will watch the kingdom of God strengthen and grow in miraculous ways! Have thoughts, questions, or other verses you think are applicable? Please leave a comment below!
